Press Release – Armed Robbery

For Immediate Release
June 21, 2013

Thursday, June 20, 2013, 9:25 pm, Grangeville Police were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at Deano’s Exxon located at 712 W. Main Street.  The clerk reported that a man entered the store, showed the clerk a handgun and demanded money.  The clerk gave the man the money from the cash drawer.  The man immediately left the store on foot.  There were no other persons in the store and no one was injured during the incident.

Witnesses and video surveillance showed a white male in his 20’s enter the store, contact the clerk, leave on foot and then leave in a late 80’s or early 90’s maroon Toyota pickup, driven by a white female in her 20’s.  Through immediate investigation involving witness reports, video surveillance, and assistance from the Idaho County Sheriff’s Department and Kamiah Marshal’s Office, two persons of interest were detained in Kamiah this morning at approximately 10:30 am.

“We are grateful no one was injured in this incident.  The clerk did the right thing by turning over the money.  No amount of money is worth putting yourself in danger of being killed or injured.  Thanks to the quick response from my officer and the Idaho County Sheriff’s Deputy on duty, we were able to get the information out to surrounding area law enforcement agencies.  This information allowed the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and the Kamiah Marshal’s Office to locate and arrest both suspects.  I would like to express my thanks to all of the agencies involved for bringing this situation to a quick and peaceful resolution,” Chief Morgan Drew.

Additional details will be released when they become available.
