Bomb Threat Final Update

PM AND FINAL UPDATE

Grangeville –

Wednesday, January 09, 2013, 5:49 am. Grangeville police were called to Grangeville High School this morning after a school employee found written material indicating that a bomb was on the school grounds.

According to Police Chief Morgan Drew, an employee reporting to work at the school found a note attached to an entrance door of the high school located at 910 South D Street. This occurred prior to the start of the school day and no children were on campus.

“All necessary precautions were taken in dealing with this incident due to its serious nature.” Chief Morgan Drew.

The school was closed for the day and the Boise Police Department Explosives Disposal Unit utilizing a bomb trained dog, performed a sweep of the school grounds. After a search of both the interior and exterior, police did not find any kind of dangerous device on the premises. The Idaho County Sheriff’s Department provided perimeter assistance during the incident.

The school remains closed for the rest of the evening, but will re-open for business as usual on Thursday morning.

Drew adds that for precautionary reasons there will a heightened police presence at the school for the rest of the week.

The incident remains under investigation.
