Friends of Centennial Library (FOCL) is looking for new members! Being a member of FOCL includes attending monthly meetings, fundraising, and creating programs that involve library patrons and community members, and supporting the library through donations. We also need board members who will be leading meetings, taking notes, and managing the FOCL budget. Library experience is not required, we simply need volunteers who want to be involved in their library and community. Are you interested in being part of the FOCL team? You can learn more at the Grangeville Centennial Library, or give us a call at (208) 983-0951.
The mission of Friends of Centennial Library (FOCL) is to enhance our community’s library by provide much needed services, resources and programming. As you have probably noticed in the past three years the Grangeville Centennial Library has made tremendous progress in establishing itself as a true center for community learning, that provides an inviting, vibrant space for ALL residents. A few highlights include:
Increasing circulation by over 62 %
Serving 277 kids in our 2012 summer reading program
Expand technology access (average 37 computer users/day)
Increasing volunteers and volunteer opportunities
Increasing hours to better serve patrons (average weekday library use = 115 patrons/day)
Over the past year FOCL has supported full and partial library card scholarships to qualifying patrons through the Barbara Hansen Memorial fund; purchased new library books; sponsored the Idaho Commission for the Libraries, “’Lets Talk About It” events; and supported the youth summer reading program and Everyone Reads kick-off events. We are excited about the potential for funding several new library programs in 2013, including book clubs, teen and family read week program, and author events.
We are a LOCAL non-profit organization and all funds go to support our LOCAL library. We invite the public to our meetings and to help participate with FOCL events.
