Training meeting Monday February 28, 2022

Meeting called to order 1804

  • Minutes for February 14th were read and approved
  • Bob’s last night being fire chief and will be taking leave, but not leaving. Brian has officially been hired as the new fire chief and will officially begin at midnight. Bob has talked with the new fire chief and his turnouts will stay where they are.
  • Fireman will need to vote on 542 and 543, the assistant chiefs’ positions.
    • Bob’s thoughts on voting – which are not in bi-laws which states everyone votes
      • President votes for tie breaker, Bob felt the Chief should be the tie breaker since the president will not work closely with the assistant chiefs, the chief does

Business meeting – Andrew Lane

  • Feels he speaks for all to Bob stating thank you very much and glad you are staying
  • Brian has been officially appointed for 541
  • 542 nomination was Jared Andrews, Tackett 1st/Seaver 2nd approved
  • 543 nomination was Mike Tackett, Andrews 1st/Urban 2nd, Graydon Galloway, S. Galloway 1st/ Boehmke 2nd
    • Graydon stated he would accept nomination and let all know he may not be available as he would like with summers possibly being on wildfires and duty station for work changing to Slate Creek
    • Bob voiced concerns on Graydon’s summers and being in Slate Creek
    • Silent ballot voting, Mike Tackett new 543
  • Chief Brian will choose 545 at a later time
  • Discussion on Bi-laws and the need to update, for example, bi-laws state meeting starts at 1900 when department chose to start at 1800
  • Tackett will price cost to fix the Buffalo stating it needs a new motor, power break, transmission, and would like it to be an automatic
    • Question was asked if we need all the work done. Yes, was stated, and it would be better to do it now rather than have it needed in the winter.
    • In order for GFD to make a decision, there needs to be a solid cost and date.
  • The Buffalo is a 1944, all current parts are from 1944, Tackett can not find the parts and stated the powertrain needs to be updated now
    • The money spent on the buff is a donation to the city.
    • City owns all trucks
    • The buff is for public relations
  • Many former GFD members were present for Bob’s last night as Chief, Brian introduced visitors
  • Obenauf”s walk through was moved to next meeting
  • Meeting adjourned 1943
