May 4, 2020 Regular Meeting

City Council met in regular session on May 4, 2020 at 6:00 P.M. via teleconference due to COVID-19.

Mayor Lester presided:

Mike Peterson
Pete Lane
Beryl Grant
Amy Farris
Dylan Canaday

City employees present were Chief Drew, Public Works Director Mager, Attorney Green and City Administrator Kennedy.

MINUTES: The meeting was called to order and the Council minutes of April 20th were approved as presented by Councilor Peterson, second by Councilor Farris. Motion carried by a unanimous vote of the Council present.

IDA-LEW SUPPORT: On motion by Councilor Grant, second by Councilor Peterson to approve continued support in the 2020-21 to Ida-Lew in the amount of $2,000. Motion carried by a unanimous vote of the Council present.

SIDEWALK WAIVER: Public Works Director Mager recommended a waiver because Grangeville Builder’s sits below the street and it’s impossible to have sidewalks without pouring a wall. Along their new gravel parking lot, there are a lot of fiber lines in the area and the City doesn’t want sidewalks on top of the lines. On motion by Councilor Peterson second by Councilor Farris to approve Mager’s recommendation for a renewal of the sidewalk waiver for Grangeville Builders at 703 W S 1st. Motion carried by a unanimous vote of the Council present.

FARMER’S MARKET PLANT SALE: On motion by Councilor Grant, second by Councilor Canaday to allow Grangeville Farmer’s Market to hold their annual plant sale at Pioneer Park in the evening, during the week of May 18th following the governor’s guidelines for social distancing. Motion carried by a unanimous vote of the Council present.

ITEMS TO NOTE: Public Works Director Mager updated the Council on the Main Street brick removal project. Public Works started removing bricks today at Ace Hardware with the concrete pour following. Both sides of the block should be completed this week. Work will continue next week and the 2.5 block project should be completed by May 15th.

Spring Clean Up Week is May 18 – 22, 2020
