The City of Grangeville, with the assistance of Idaho County, will host a general election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 to elect three 4-year term City Council positions and one 4-year term Mayor position.
In order to be considered a candidate for those positions, interested individuals must file a Declaration of Candidacy specifying the office sought and affirming they are a qualified City Elector. The filing period for Declaration of Candidacy opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28th and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8th.
Requirements to be a qualified City Elector eligible to run in the election or sign a Petition form on behalf of another individual interested in declaring their candidacy include being at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen. Additionally, the potential candidate’s voter registration address must match the residence address provided on the candidate’s Declaration of Candidacy form and they must have resided in the city for at least thirty (30) days prior to submitting their declaration.
The Declaration of Candidacy form shall be accompanied by: a nonrefundable filing fee of forty dollars ($40.00); OR a Petition of Candidacy form signed by at least five qualified city electors whose signatures must be verified by the Idaho County Clerk’s Office.
Individuals who wish to run as write-in candidates must file a declaration of intent not later than 28 days before the day of election, or not later than 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
All forms are available at the City of Grangeville Office of the City Clerk at Grangeville City Hall, 225 W. North Street, Grangeville, Idaho from the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All forms are to be returned to the same office.
