The Grangeville Skatepark was developed in 2003 when a group of local youth and their parents banned together to create the Skatepark Committee and requested that the tennis courts at Lion’s Park be used for a skatepark.
The City donated the tennis courts, an area covering roughly 10,000 square feet for construction of the skatepark. The Skatepark Committee started having fundraisers to raise enough money to develop the park.
The Committee Chairman, Brian Barnes, applied for and received a $10,000.00 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation which was used to purchase additional equipment for the park.
