Training meeting Monday August 12, 2024
Meeting called to order 1804
o 12 members in attendance
o Minutes read and approved

o Forest service had us go through a walk through in the heli tack building and aircraft. We discussed on where we should stage the trucks and what radio frequency.

o We discussed our last training meeting on what we need to work on. Make sure trucks have foam.

o New to driving trucks. If you have to drive down one of the grades find a lower gear. Don’t make it where you have no stopping power because you rode your brakes the whole time.

o If you get on a truck and don’t know what you are doing find an engineer.

o When responding to Fenn you have road construction. Even though we are big red trucks with flashy lights, wait for them to give you the go ahead.

o When driving tender or any truck on a rural fire. If on a narrow road and you have another vehicle coming at you stop. Side of roads can be soft where the truck can tip since they are top heavy. We don’t want to rescue one of us from one of our trucks. Tender doesn’t go in fields and doesn’t leave the gravel roads or black top.

o Field fire make sure you are you are tacitly aware. Stay in the black and watch for farmers with equipment.

o Brian went Sunday to get new truck. It goes in Tuesday to start getting all the electrical done then gear will be moved. The pump and foam are close to city 2 and city 3. City 1 will be in service until the new truck is done.

o Got our review from Idaho. We went from a level 5 to level 4.

o Engine 4 wouldn’t foam on our last fire meeting. Jared had knb fire come out. It now foams if it doesn’t foam again, they will replace the pump.

o Silver lake fire. Everyone that responded did a good job. Forest service even said that we did good.

o Motor Vehicle fire

o We have gotten a lot of vehicle fires lately. Pay Atten where the calls are. We have gotten a lot out of our district. One of the Chiefs will make the call to respond or not.

o Brian thanked everyone that took the time out of their day and showed up to Tommy Jacobs Service.
