Lodge expansion discussion

The committee reviewed the concept drawings from Wemhoff Architecture. The drawings added 1,200 square feet to each floor with a cost estimate of $720,000. Renovation of the existing spaces could easily be another $100,000 for a total estimate of $820,000. The committee discussed the options proposed and decided first there were not enough funds available to do the lodge expansion/renovation and ultimately decided the maintenance items were must more important as without a t-bar and groomer, the hill will not operate. The committee decided to discontinue discussion on expansion or renovation of the lodge.

Discussion on maintenance items

In order to get a quote on new Ts, the frequency system for the T-bar needs to be installed. Gabe will work on getting that completed in this budget year as long as it fits in the budget.

There was additional discussion that if a bathroom is added to the shop, we may need to look into the septic system. The committee recommends budgeting small ticket items as part of the budget. The City does have a set of shop plans from Gerald Arnzen, but they most likely aren’t the correct size. Tonya will pull out those plans. Prior to determine shop size, the committee will look at it and double check a potential new groomer size.

Recommendation to city council

The committee decided to prioritize the maintenance items they would like to focus on. The recommendation to the city council is to move forward with the following maintenance items as prioritized below.

#1 – Tbar upgrade and maintenance
#2 – Groomer
#3 – Shop*
#3 – Ski patrol building*

*The shop and ski patrol building have equal ranking, so the committee will look at both and work with ski patrol on their building. Tonya will check with ski patrol to see what size they need and possibly get a quote from Clearwater Barns.

Meeting adjourned 6:25 pm.
