Training meeting Monday April 13, 2026
Meeting called to order 1805

• Equipment Update
o Gabe reported that the 4-Gas Monitors are in. One will be on City 1 and the other one will go on Rural 4.
o Jarred reported that we are going to go to every other year for pump certifications.
o The water bottles on all of the rigs need restocked and replace Sadie is going to get that done and get some cleaning supplies for the station.

o Clearwater Fire Academy
Sadie reported that she attended the class titled Tactics for Idaho Firefighters. In the two-day class she learned more about managing people on the fire grounds, mayday procedures, building construction, the art of reading smoke, fire behavior, and how to do the initial 360 fire size ups.
Elvis reported that he attended two classes each a full day. The first class he attended was Pump and Apparatus Maintenance. In that class he learned the proper pump maintenance, how friction loss can affect the pressures in the lines, and the different types of pumps. The second class that he attended was the Propane Emergencies class. There he learned about how to respond to propane emergencies, how to use water streams to deflect heat to turn off propane bottles on fire, and he learned about the dangers of BLEVE’s.
Gabe reported that he and Noah attended the Firefighters Essentials Class on Friday and Saturday, where they learned the basics of fire behavior, mayday, SCBA’s, and firefighting tactics. On Sunday Gabe and Noah also attended the Forcible Entry and Ventilation class. In that class they learned about the different types of ventilation, flow paths, and they got hands on training of vertical ventilation, forcible entry, and crawling through interior walls with your SCBA on.

o Brian mentioned that at our next meeting we are going to do hands on training pumping every engine and getting a better understating of how our engines operate.

o Gabe led a training on the 4-Gas Monitors explain how to operate them and where we are likely to run into the 4 gases (O2, CO, H2S, and LEL).
o Graydon led a refresher training on wildland firefighting tactics and gave a forecast of what the wildland fire season is going to look like this year. Field fire attack methods were also talked about.
