Grangeville Centennial Library Board Meeting
Mayor’s Conference Room-215 W North St.
September 16, 2021 – 5:00 p.m.
Meeting was called to order by Meleah McCulley at 5 PM. Those present: Meleah McCulley, Brennan Wright, Carmen Sangster, Susan Anderson, Gina Sobrero, and Heidi Brown. Absent: Betty Nafziger and Dylan Canaday.
Minutes: Brennan moved and Susan seconded to approve the minutes from the July 15, 2021 meeting. Motion passed.
The budget report was not available.
Library report: Family Read Week will be November 8th-14th with the theme “Believe and Achieve.” The book discussion with Jennifer Ladino for September 28th has been cancelled. On October 20th, the first books from the My First Books grant will be delivered to kindergarten students at GEMS. Students will receive a free book each month through May. Storytime is back with the following schedule:
September 8th—School
September 15th—Cookies
September 22nd—Mermaids
September 29th—Space
The Browns came in and painted the walls. The staff has been rearranging the library. The new checkout station has arrived and will be installed on September 17th. Cornerstone will be coming to the library every Monday with 20-24 students. They have added new books to the nonfiction section. Numerous grants applications have been submitted. ValNET has stopped fines, but GCL has not, so there have been some issues when ValNET locks accounts if materials are three days overdue. GCL can override if the materials came from our library, but not if the materials came from outside GCL. It is an issue that will need to be addressed.
Old Business
1. Strategic Planning: Brennan moved and Carmen seconded a motion to approve the mission statement as revised. The motion was approved.
2. Updating Constitution and By-Laws: possible revisions were discussed. No action taken.
3. Meleah moved and Brennan seconded a motion to appoint Bridget Arnzen to a 5-year Board term running 1/1/2022-12/31/20216. The motion was approved.
